We Can Protect Your Tooth With A One-Visit Crown

woman with nice smile restorative dentistry concept

A crown’s design is important, as it needs to be just the right shape and size to protect your tooth, look natural, and avoid creating any problems for neighboring teeth. Many practices require patients to book two appointments to have this kind of restoration placed. However, the right technology can shorten the time you spend in care while still delivering the right results!

Our Katy, TX dental practice can provide a crown made with CEREC technology. We are able to measure your tooth, make a design of your restoration, and then produce it on-site so that we can set it in position at your initial appointment. As a result, you receive the lasting protection you need while minimizing the time you must commit to care.

Why A Crown’s Shape And Size Matter

Dental crowns surround the teeth they protect. To provide this kind of coverage without looking out of place or affecting their neighbors, these restorations must be carefully designed. This is why the treatment process sets aside time for a careful evaluation of the tooth being treated. At many practices, the information is gathered and then sent to a third party lab. However, outside support is not always needed at our location. This is because we have CEREC technology on hand to measure teeth, make designs, and produce lifelike restorations

Using CEREC Technology To Produce Your One-Visit Crown

The technology we have at our office allows us to digitally measure your tooth, make a digital design of a crown that is tailored to protect it, and then produce a restoration based on that design. CAD/CAM technology allows us to move through the process of creating and placing your crown in just one visit while ensuring it has the right look and dimensions to provide long-term support. The process yields a ceramic restoration, one that is able to match the color and texture of natural teeth to provide cosmetic as well as functional benefits.

What Else Can Your Dentist Do To Restore Your Tooth?

Based on the tooth being treated and the bite pressure it must endure, we may recommend something other than a CEREC crown. A restoration made with metal, or one that is comprised of porcelain covering a metal core, can offer more protection for a molar or premolar that must absorb more pressure.

Not all treatments demand this kind of care. For smaller cavities, we can provide dental fillings that only cover the area where decay formed. If you need to take on relatively minor damages or wear and tear, we may find that a cosmetic solution, such as a veneer, is appropriate for covering a tooth.
