Taking A High-Tech Approach To Your Dental Care

high tech dentistry katy tx

Our team wants to help each member of your family enjoy good oral health, and to do so we can implement advanced technology. We can use digital x-rays for a diagnosis, and even 3D print custom restorations or prosthetics. In today’s blog, your Katy, TX, dentist talks about our high-tech approach!

Digital Imaging for a Diagnosis

Our team wants to offer treatment with precision and accuracy, which is why we employ digital imaging as part of the diagnostic process. For example, with digital x-rays we use 90% less radiation and you don’t need to use uncomfortable bite wings. The images don’t need to be removed, they’re available instantly chairside, so we can walk you through the diagnosis and limit your time in the chair. If we’re looking at issues with your bite, such as TMJ disorder or bruxism (teeth grinding), then we can also administer Tekscan Pressure Mapping, which allows us to diagnose concerns with your bite and find out where pressure is being exerted and how it’s being distributed. These readings can allow us to assess the severity of TMJ issues and bruxism and to create custom oral appliances that will aid in treatment!

3D Printing Your Restorations

At one time, receiving a restoration or an oral appliance meant you needed multiple visits, and would have to return later to pick up your restoration or appliance. But with an in-office 3D printer, we can create crowns, fillings, appliances, and restorations in the same visit and in-office. This limits your time in the chair and also the amount of time you’ll need to take off for treatment. We can also offer a more customized and personalized treatment, as these will be crafted based on detailed digital images and measurements of your smile.

Laser Dental Treatments

Dental lasers use a concentrated beam of light that is especially calibrated for soft tissues. We can use this to offer treatment with precision, preventing damage to healthy tissues. There is little need for anesthesia, and the risk of bleeding and swelling afterward is reduced, as there is no need for sutures or scalpels. We can use them to offer fillings without shots for anesthesia and without lingering numbness. For people with sleep apnea, we can drink oral tissues to prevent airways from being obstructed as you sleep.
