4 Myths You Hear About Dental Care

mythfactchalkYou may find yourself feeling quite torn when it comes to dental care. Especially if you are someone who is looking for any rational excuse to avoid a trip to the dentist, you may be experiencing a tug-of-war between what you think is right (scheduling preventive visits with us consistently) or taking advantage of what you think might be a myth. Good news: By dispelling common myths, we can help you gain the confidence you need to schedule care without hesitation.

Myth #1: You Don’t Really Need It

You may hear that you don’t really need dental care. While you may not need much care, you do need to schedule preventive visits for professional cleanings and exams. Without it, plaque will eventually turn to tartar. Since you can’t remove tartar (we can, however!), you will begin to develop tooth decay and other concerns.

Myth #2: It’s Uncomfortable

Whether you’re coming in for a preventive visit, cosmetic dentistry, or restorative care, it’s going to be comfortable. Our mission, of course, is not only to protect and fix your smile but to ensure you feel at ease.

Myth #3: It Isn’t Affordable

We accept dental insurance, which means keeping up with your dental care is something you have already planned out. Or, for those who either do not have dental insurance or are receiving a treatment that is not covered, we also offer affordable payment plans.

Myth 4: You Can Fix Most Things Yourself

In addition to requiring preventive care on a professional level, you also need to receive restorations or cosmetic treatments from a dental professional. Unfortunately, attempting your own care (even with over-the-counter products) may result in damage.
